A tall rectangle is the classic parking sign shape, with room to stack a headline over a few lines of detail. It sits neatly on a single post and fits beside doors and gates where a wide sign won't.

Which tall size

12" x 18" is the standard size for parking signs and most notices on private lots. 18" x 24" gives a longer message bigger letters. The 24" x 30" and larger sizes are for entrances and drives, where people read the sign from a car.

Laying out the words

Stack the message from most important to least, such as RESERVED, then VISITOR PARKING, then a time limit. Shorter lines print bigger, so split a long phrase over two lines rather than squeezing it onto one.
