Can I Use a Custom Sign on a Public Road?
Most of our custom signs go up on private property: parking lots, private roads, campuses, warehouses, and job sites. Signs that face traffic on a public road must follow the MUTCD, so check with your city, county, or state road agency before putting a custom message there. Our custom street name signs follow MUTCD color and lettering rules, and our regular categories carry the standard MUTCD signs used on public roads.

How to Order a Custom Sign
- Pick your sign. Choose a shape and design type from the table above or the products on this page.
- Add your words or artwork. Keep the message short so drivers can read it at a glance. For artwork, a PDF, AI, EPS, or SVG file prints sharpest. For a photo, upload the largest original file you have. We cannot print other companies' logos or trademarks.
- Arrange it on the preview. Drag and resize your text or artwork. Keep important details inside the border and away from the mounting holes. Anything outside the sign edge is cut off.
- Choose your size and sheeting. Bigger signs can be read from farther away, and our road sign size guide explains which size suits your road and speed. Square, rectangle, diamond, and stop signs come with standard pre-drilled mounting holes. Street name signs mount with a bracket.
- Approve and add to cart. Check the spelling and arrow direction, then choose Print as shown or Email me a proof first.
How Long Do Custom Signs Take to Ship?
Every custom sign is made to order and ships in about 7 business days, plus transit time. Signs with uploaded artwork ship about 7 business days after the artwork is approved, and an emailed proof adds 1-2 business days. Need your signs by a certain date? RoadSigns.com is a registered federal supplier on SAM.gov, and we accept purchase orders from government agencies, the military, and schools. For 50 or more signs, or a full sign list, send the sizes, quantities, delivery ZIP code, and needed-by date through our quote request page. Add sign posts and mounting hardware to the same request so we can price the whole setup at once.
