Is this the real interstate sign design?
Yes. It follows the MUTCD M1-1 design: a red band with INTERSTATE, a blue shield, and white numbers and border, in the standard 24 in x 24 in and 30 in x 24 in sizes.
Can I use letters or a number that is not a real interstate?
Yes. Type up to 3 letters or numbers, like a house number, a birth year or your initials. Symbols like - or # are left out.
Can I leave the state name off?
Yes. Pick No state name in step 1 and the sign shows only INTERSTATE and your number.
Can I order several signs with different numbers?
Yes. Design the first sign, add it to your cart, then come back for the next one. Different numbers and states count together for volume pricing when the size and sheeting match.
Can it go on a public road?
Signs on public roads are put up by the road agency. If you work for one, check your rules first. Both sheeting choices meet MUTCD minimum retroreflectivity.

Make your own interstate sign
Pick a state, type a route number, and see your sign before you buy. This is the MUTCD M1-1 interstate shield, also called an interstate route marker, made with the same .080 in aluminum and 3M reflective sheeting as the signs on the highway.
Which size you get
The size follows what you type. One or two characters, like I-5 or I-95, come on a 24 in x 24 in shield. Three characters, like I-285 or your initials, come on a 30 in x 24 in shield, so they stay big and easy to read.
With or without a state name
Add a state name above the number, like FLORIDA 95, or pick No state name for the plain shield with only INTERSTATE and your number.
Reflective sheeting
3M High Intensity Prismatic is the current standard and carries a 10 year sheeting warranty. 3M Diamond Grade DG3 returns about twice the light at night and carries a 12 year warranty.
