FAQs
RoadSigns.com support
Answers to common questions about road signs, reflective sheeting, shipping, returns, custom signs, and bulk orders.
Ordering
Can I order online, or do I need to request a quote?
Most standard road signs, parking signs, posts, and hardware can be ordered directly online. For large quantities, custom signs, freight items, or agency projects with special requirements, contact us before ordering and we can help review the details.
Can you help with large or bulk orders?
Yes. RoadSigns.com works with municipalities, contractors, HOAs, schools, property managers, facility managers, and other buyers that need multiple signs or repeat orders.
For faster help, send the sign list, quantities, sizes, reflective sheeting requirements, delivery ZIP code, and any project notes.
Do you work with tax-exempt organizations?
Eligible government, school, and tax-exempt buyers can contact us before ordering so we can review the documentation and help apply it correctly where available.
Please include your organization name, billing details, and tax-exempt certificate when contacting us.
Can I use a purchase order?
If your organization requires purchase order paperwork, contact us before placing the order. We can review the account, order size, billing details, and project requirements.
Why do some small orders have a small order fee?
Some smaller orders may include a handling or small order fee to help cover processing, packing, and fulfillment costs. Any applicable fee is shown before checkout is completed.
Products & compliance
Are these signs MUTCD compliant?
Our standard traffic, regulatory, warning, school zone, and work-zone signs are built around MUTCD-style layouts, colors, legends, dimensions, and reflective sheeting options shown on each product page. When available, the product listing includes the applicable MUTCD code.
Requirements can vary by state, municipality, project plan, roadway type, or authority having jurisdiction. For public-road installations, confirm the required sign size, sheeting grade, and placement with your plans, engineer, local DOT, or project owner before ordering.
What does the MUTCD code mean?
A MUTCD code identifies a standard traffic sign layout. For example, R-series signs are regulatory signs, W-series signs are warning signs, and many temporary traffic control signs use W-series layouts.
We include these codes in product names where they help buyers match plans, sign schedules, and replacement signs.
Which reflective sheeting should I choose?
- High Intensity Prismatic (HIP): A strong standard option for many regulatory, warning, parking, and work-zone signs.
- Diamond Grade DG3: A higher-performing reflective option for buyers who need stronger visibility or have project specifications that require it.
- Fluorescent DG3: Often used for enhanced visibility in school zone, pedestrian, and work-zone applications where fluorescent colors are specified.
For public roads or bid work, choose the sheeting grade listed in your plans or required by the authority in charge of the project.
Are your signs Made in the USA?
Our standard road sign catalog is sourced through U.S. manufacturers and authorized fabricators using commercial-grade sign materials, including 3M certified retroreflective sheeting on many traffic sign products.
What material are the signs made from?
Most standard rigid traffic signs are made from .080-inch rustproof aluminum unless a product page states otherwise. Many post-mounted signs include rounded corners and pre-punched mounting holes, but always check the individual product listing for exact size, substrate, and mounting details.
Does mounting hardware come with the sign?
Posts, brackets, bolts, nuts, washers, and mounting hardware are sold separately unless the product page clearly says the item is a kit or includes hardware.
This lets buyers choose the right mounting setup for U-channel posts, round posts, square posts, walls, fences, or custom installations.
Can I order custom signs?
Yes. Custom street signs, parking signs, facility signs, and project-specific legends can be quoted or ordered depending on the design.
Include the wording, size, colors, reflective sheeting requirement, quantity, and any artwork or layout files when contacting us.
Shipping
How fast do orders ship?
Most in-stock and quick-ship items leave the warehouse within 1–3 business days. Custom signs, non-stocked items, large quantities, and freight orders may take longer depending on the item, production schedule, and destination.
After your order ships, tracking information will be sent to the email address used at checkout.
Do large signs or posts require freight shipping?
Some oversized or heavy products may require truck freight instead of standard parcel shipping. This can include large signs, longer posts, bulk quantities, and heavy safety products.
If an item requires a freight quote or special handling, we may contact you before the order ships.
Can I ship to a jobsite?
Yes. Many orders can ship directly to a jobsite, office, warehouse, school, municipality, or contractor location.
Make sure the shipping address is complete and include any receiving instructions that may help the carrier deliver successfully.
Can you rush an order?
Contact us before placing the order if timing is critical. We can help check whether the item is in stock, whether expedited shipping is practical, and whether a custom or large order can meet your deadline.
Returns & order issues
What is the return policy?
Standard stock items can usually be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are unused, in good condition, and approved for return. A 15% restocking fee may apply.
Return shipping is generally the buyer’s responsibility unless the order arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect. Custom signs, made-to-order products, special-order items, and personalized products are not returnable unless there is a production error or shipping damage.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?
Contact us as soon as possible with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos of the product and packaging.
If the order arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, we will review it and help make it right.
Can I cancel an order?
Contact us right away if you need to cancel. Standard stock orders can sometimes be canceled before fulfillment begins.
Custom, special-order, and made-to-order products may not be cancellable once production has started.
Support
How do I contact RoadSigns.com?
Email support@roadsigns.com or call 888-495-7623.
For quotes, custom signs, order issues, or project details, email is usually best because it keeps item numbers, drawings, photos, and written requirements in one place.
Can you help me choose the right sign?
Yes. Send the sign code, product link, photo, drawing, or project requirement and we can help you find the closest product.
For public roads or regulated installations, final approval should come from the project owner, engineer, local DOT, or authority having jurisdiction.
Do you sell to homeowners or only businesses?
We sell to both. RoadSigns.com is built for B2B buyers such as municipalities, contractors, schools, property managers, HOAs, and facilities, but homeowners can also order standard signs when they need them.
