The W14-1aL is a horizontal dead end plaque with a left arrow. It is mounted with the street name sign at the intersection to warn turning drivers that the street to the left ends with no way through. Where the cross street has no name it can be used on its own. It does not replace the W14-1 diamond on the dead end street itself. Black DEAD END legend and arrow on a yellow retroreflective background, per MUTCD Chapter 2C.

Two sizes are currently available. The 36" x 8" is the MUTCD size for street name sign posts. The 24" x 6" is a compact size for small street name signs on low-speed private and local streets. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
