Junction (JCT) Route Marker Plaque M2-1

Goes at the very top of a junction assembly, right above the route sign, to tell drivers they are coming up on the intersection with that route. The MUTCD calls it the Junction auxiliary plaque (M2-1P in the 2023 edition, Section 2D.13) and always abbreviates the word to JCT.

Pick the color of the route sign it sits on, as MUTCD Section 2D.12 asks: black on white for U.S. and state routes, white on blue for an Interstate shield, yellow on blue for a county pentagon. The white plaque comes in 21" x 15" (the MUTCD size, lined up with arrow plaques), 30" x 21" (oversized) and 30" x 15"; the two blue versions come in 21" x 15". Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
