The W11-2 warns drivers that pedestrians may be crossing the roadway ahead. It carries a black pedestrian symbol on a yellow retroreflective background and is posted under MUTCD Chapter 2C at or in advance of marked crosswalks, uncontrolled crossings, and mid-block crossings where pedestrian activity is expected. Each sign is made from durable 80 mil aluminum and is available in multiple sizes with your choice of reflective sheeting.

Choose the Right Size

• 18" x 18": Below the MUTCD minimum. Intended for private property, parking lots, campus drives, and shared-use paths rather than public roadways.
• 24" x 24": MUTCD minimum size for conventional roads in lower-speed locations.
• 30" x 30": Standard size for conventional roads.
• 36" x 36": Used on expressways and on multi-lane conventional roads posted above 35 MPH.
• 48" x 48": Freeway and oversized applications, or locations where extra conspicuity is needed.

Reflective Sheeting Options

• High Intensity Prismatic (HIP): A widely used reflective option for regulatory and warning signs, and a strong choice for most standard roadway and facility installations.
• Diamond Grade (DG3): A higher-performance option for maximum brightness, long-distance visibility, and demanding traffic control applications.
• Diamond Grade Fluorescent Yellow: Diamond Grade brightness in a high-conspicuity fluorescent yellow for stronger daytime visibility, while staying in the standard yellow color family.
• Diamond Grade Fluorescent Yellow Green: The fluorescent yellow-green background the MUTCD permits for pedestrian and bicycle warning signs. Use it where your agency has standardized on yellow-green for non-motorized and crossing signs, or near schools and high-activity crossings where added emphasis is wanted. The MUTCD calls for one background color within a given zone, so do not mix yellow-green and standard yellow signs in the same area.

Installation Notes

• Sign posts, brackets, bolts, and mounting hardware are sold separately.
• Sizes through 36" x 36" typically mount to a single post. The 48" x 48" sign is large-format and may require additional bracing or a two-post installation depending on wind load and local standards.
• When posted at the crossing, pair the W11-2 with a W16-7P downward diagonal arrow plaque. When posted in advance, supplement it with an AHEAD or distance (XX FEET) plaque.
• Confirm final sign size, placement, mounting height, and post requirements with your project plans, local authority, or applicable MUTCD guidance.
