Two Way Traffic Construction Sign W6-3

The orange W6-3 is the sign for a crossover, where one roadway of a divided highway is closed and both directions share the other. The MUTCD calls for it at the start of the two-way section and again at intervals, so drivers remember that oncoming traffic is in the next lane. Black two-way traffic symbol on an orange retroreflective background, per MUTCD Part 6.

Four sizes are currently available. The 30" x 30" is the MUTCD minimum, allowed only on low-volume rural roads, local streets and roads with operating speeds of 30 MPH or less. The 36" x 36" is the standard work zone size for conventional roads. The 48" x 48" is for freeways and expressways. Contractors on private sites can also order a 24" x 24", which is smaller than the MUTCD minimum. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
