Overview
Description
The Lap Splice System is an economical FHWA and AASHTO approved breakaway device for U-channel sign posts, made by Marion Steel. Two special bolts and spacers join a short base post to the top sign post. On vehicle impact the splice releases, letting the top post break away cleanly while the base post stays in the ground.
Choose the silver system (3/8" x 3/4" x 5") for 2 to 2-1/2 lb/ft posts or the gold system (1/2" x 3/4" x 5") for 3 to 4 lb/ft posts. Hardware included.
Installation Notes
Pair with a 3.5 ft U-channel base post driven into the ground. After an impact, only the top post and splice hardware need replacement, not the foundation. Base post and top post sold separately.
