Alternate Route Marker Plaque M4-1

Marks an officially designated alternate routing of a numbered highway between two points on that route, mounted directly above the route sign (MUTCD Section 2D.17, M4-1P in the 2023 edition). The MUTCD does not allow it for incident or emergency detours that are not part of the numbered system.

Sizes 24" x 12" and 36" x 18" follow the MUTCD table; 30" x 15" is an extra size between them. The long word is set in condensed letters to fit the plate. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
