Road Work Ahead 1500 FT Sign W20-1

The W20-1 is the standard diamond-shaped warning sign used in advance of construction and utility work zones. Black "ROAD WORK 1500 FT" legend on a fluorescent orange retroreflective background. Required under MUTCD Part 6 for temporary traffic control. Placed 1500 feet in advance of the work zone, typically used as the first advance warning sign on higher-speed roadways.

Four sizes are listed. The 24" x 24" weighs less and suits very long private roads, such as mine haul roads or large industrial sites, where the work is set up far down the road. Each of the larger sizes is matched to a MUTCD roadway class. The 30" x 30" is for low-volume roads. The 36" x 36" is for conventional single and multi-lane roads. The 48" x 48" is for expressways and freeways. The 30" and 36" sizes mount to a single post. The 48" size requires a two-post mount.
