Fog Area Warning Sign W8-22

Warns that fog often cuts visibility along this part of the road, so drivers should slow down and turn on their lights. A NEXT XX MILES plaque can go under it to show how long the foggy stretch runs (MUTCD Section 2C.34). Black FOG AREA legend on a yellow retroreflective background.

Five sizes are currently available. The 36" x 36" is the MUTCD size for conventional roads and expressways, and the 48" x 48" is for freeways or oversized. The 24" x 24" is the MUTCD minimum, for low-speed, low-volume roads. The 30" x 30" is an in-between size not listed in the MUTCD table, and the 18" x 18" suits private roads and parking lots. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
