Metal Bridge Deck Warning Sign W8-16

Warns riders that the bridge ahead has a metal or open-grate surface, which can feel loose under motorcycle and bicycle tires, above all when wet. The MUTCD lists it with the motorcyclist signs (Section 2C.31), and a Motorcycle plaque can be added above or below it. Black METAL BRIDGE DECK legend on a yellow retroreflective background.

Five sizes are currently available. The 24" x 24" is the MUTCD minimum, for low-speed, low-volume roads. The 30" x 30" is for single-lane roads and the 36" x 36" for multi-lane roads and expressways. The 48" x 48" is for freeways, or oversized where the sign must stand out. An 18" x 18" is also made for bike paths and private bridges, below the MUTCD road minimum. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
