The R4-2 marks the downstream end of a no-passing zone, telling drivers that passing is allowed again but only with caution. It pairs with a DO NOT PASS sign posted at the start of the same zone. Black PASS WITH CARE legend on a white retroreflective background, per MUTCD Chapter 2B.

Four sizes are currently available. The 18" x 24" is the minimum size, for low-speed roads. The 24" x 30" is the standard size for conventional roads. The 36" x 48" is for expressways, or oversized for enhanced conspicuity. The 48" x 60" is for freeways. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
