Sidewalk Closed Sign R9-9

The R9-9 goes at the start of a closed sidewalk, at the intersections before it and along the closure where needed. Where pedestrians are rerouted rather than simply stopped, add Pedestrian Detour signs (M4-9b). Black SIDEWALK CLOSED legend on a white retroreflective background, per MUTCD Part 6.

The 24" x 12" is the MUTCD size, usually mounted on a detectable barricade across the walkway. A larger 30" x 18" is also made where the sign must be seen from farther away. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
