The R1-5bR sign is used in advance of a marked crosswalk to instruct drivers to stop at the marked stop line, helping prevent multiple-threat crashes where stopped vehicles in one lane block the view of pedestrians from drivers in adjacent lanes. Per MUTCD 11th Edition Section 2B.19, the R1-5 series is intended for uncontrolled multi-lane approaches where stop lines are used in advance of the crosswalk. The right-pointing arrow directs the message toward the lane being warned.

This sign shall only be used where state or local law specifically requires drivers to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk. The legend STATE LAW shall not be displayed on R1-5 series signs. Standard size is 36" x 36". The left-arrow version (R1-5bL) is available as a separate listing. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
