West Route Marker Plaque M3-4

Points out the westbound direction of the route on the sign beneath it. Agencies pair it with a route shield at junctions and where a route starts. The 2023 MUTCD numbers it M3-4P; M3-4 is the code from earlier editions.

The 2023 MUTCD (Section 2D.12) has route plaques match their route sign, so a white plaque never goes over a blue Interstate shield or a county pentagon; choose white on blue or yellow on blue there. For a westbound assembly over a 24" route shield the 24" x 12" plate matches its width; white also comes in 30" x 15" and the oversized 36" x 18". Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
