The OM4-1 is a Type 4 end-of-roadway marker: a red diamond with nine round red plastic reflectors. It warns drivers that the road stops ahead, for example at a dead end with no turnaround, a closed road, or a road that ends at water or a drop. The MUTCD requires a Type 4 marker whenever an object marker is used to mark the end of a roadway.

It is made only in 18" x 18", with High Intensity Prismatic or Diamond Grade DG3 sheeting behind the reflectors. The MUTCD sets a minimum mounting height of 4 feet from the near edge of the road to the bottom of the marker, and more than one marker or a Type 3 barricade can be added where extra warning is needed.
