The W5-3 warns of a bridge ahead that carries only one lane of traffic, so drivers from opposite directions must take turns crossing. It is used on two-way roads where the clear width does not allow two vehicles to pass. Black ONE LANE BRIDGE legend on a yellow retroreflective background, per MUTCD Chapter 2C.

Three sizes are currently available. The 30" x 30" is the minimum size, for single-lane roads. The 36" x 36" is the standard size for conventional roads and the minimum for multi-lane roads. The 48" x 48" is for expressways and freeways. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
