The W8-25 warns that the paved shoulder ends ahead, leaving no room to pull over or recover from the travel lane. Black SHOULDER ENDS legend on a yellow retroreflective background, per MUTCD Chapter 2C.

Four sizes are currently available. The 24" x 24" is the minimum size, for low-volume roads posted at 30 MPH or less. The 30" x 30" is for single-lane roads. The 36" x 36" is the standard size for conventional roads and the minimum for multi-lane roads. The 48" x 48" is for freeways, or oversized for enhanced conspicuity. Sign post, mounting hardware, and brackets are sold separately.
